Riaz Sibtain Syed, MD
Psychiatrist
Dr. Riaz Syed is a board certified, licensed Psychiatrist. He is a Diplomate of The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with specialization in Psychiatry.
He has practiced as a mental health professional for over 40 years. Dr. Syed has been an active member of the American Psychiatric Association, the American Medical Association and the Onondaga County Medical Association. In addition, he is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Upstate Medical University.
Dr Syed offers his patients years of experience diagnosing and treating a wide range of psychiatric disorders in both adults and adolescents.
Patricia Powers, DNP, MPA, FNP-C, PMHNP-BC
Dr. Patricia Powers holds a doctoral degree as a dually certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner board certified in NYS. She has been on the staff of CNY Mental Health since 2018, providing clinical services to our patients. These services include performing psychiatric evaluations, ongoing psychiatric care, medication management and psychotherapy to adults.
Tara Wellington
Tara Wellington is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, with experience providing comprehensive psychiatric care to individuals in the outpatient, inpatient, and emergency room setting. Before graduating with her Masters of Science in Nursing from Binghamton University in 2021 she worked as a registered nurse for over 9 years in various roles including critical care and correctional nursing. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from SUNY Upstate College of Nursing and is a 2013 graduate from Crouse Hospital College of Nursing. Tara is affiliated with Upstate Community Hospital Department of Psychiatry and St. Joseph’s Health Department of Psychiatry. Tara provides consultation, diagnostic evaluation, brief psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy services to patients at CNY Mental Health.
Katrina Garrigan, PA
Katrina Garrigan is a Board Certified Physician Assistant who has worked in the mental health field for 14 years in both inpatient and outpatient settings in a variety of roles. She joined CNY Mental Health as a Psychiatric PA-C in 2018. She has a Bachelor’s Degree from Keuka College and a Master’s Degree from Le Moyne College, where she graduated from the Physician Assistant program with honors in 2017. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) and is affiliated with Upstate Community Hospital Department of Psychiatry.
She provides consultation, diagnostic evaluation, brief psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy services to patients at CNY Mental Health. She collaborates with your primary care providers and therapists.
Jessica Quigley
Office Manager
Jessica Quigley has over 15 years of customer service experience. She joined CNY Mental Health in 2017. Her main responsibilities include communicating with patients and the community. She holds a Bachelors degree in Business Management with dual concentrations in Human Resources and Marketing.
She is the point person for all communication within the office. She has a wide range of responsibilities aimed at ensuring the smooth running of the office.
Assessment
Assessment of your psychological distress is a collaborative effort between you and your provider.
Treatments
The course of treatment and specific interventions depend on the outcome of the initial comprehensive assessment.
Consultation
We offer psychiatric consultation for your primary care physicians if you choose to continue your psychiatric treatment at their offices, after your evaluation and initial treatment at our office.
